Current UWS student Rachel Steinbarger was recently hired as the new Assistant Athletic Director for Academic Success for Texas A&M University – Kingsville and Javelina Athletics! With a wealth of education and experience in her field, Rachel shared about her time at University of Western States and her future plans.


Why did you choose UWS? I chose UWS because of the integrated program and the mission of the institution.

Why did you choose your program/concentration? I chose my program/concentration because I am looking to continue to support student-athletes at the collegiate level while focusing on the holistic approach.

What has been your favorite class? Psychopathology and Appraisal

What is your favorite way to relieve stress outside of the office and classroom? My favorite way to relieve stress outside of the office and classroom is working out and cooking/baking healthy treats and snacks.

What do you hope to do after graduation? I hope to become a Dr. of Sports Psychology in an athletic department at the college level and open my own business specializing in nutrition planning, mental health and physical fitness.
