I currently hold a license in athletic training and have been caring for injured athletes for about 12 years. I am working to shift my career focus from the injured athlete to the mental athlete. I am learning to care as much about the mind of the athlete as I do about the physical well-being of the athlete. I currently live in Chicago, IL, with my wonderful wife and our three beautiful children. We all love to spend as much time outside as possible through hiking, exploring, and just enjoying nature in any way we can. My wife and I’s goal for ourselves and our kids is to explore more of the world in order to learn and respect more cultures, environments, and general differences as they continue to grow.
That is part of what makes me so excited about being part of the trip and a member of the Performance Psychology Team. I am excited to push my comfort levels not only as a professional but as a person. Being able to experience the level of diversity in one spot for this trip is unmatched. I am excited to learn from some of the best professionals, students, athletes, and coaches that the world of sports has to offer. Some of the most impactful and memorable parts of my life are times when I thought I was going to go in and make a difference, but at the end of the day, the situation made a bigger impact on me. The potential for this trip has that same feeling. I am already realizing that this experience is going to have more of an impact on me than I will have on the experience. What I learn and come away with from this trip will be impactful and life-changing.
