Course Description 

Interactive sessions are designed for clinicians seeking to refine their diagnostic and clinical integration skills in the care of spinal and extremity conditions. Emphasizing evidence-informed assessment strategies and diagnostic imaging interpretation, this course combines hands-on point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) training with clinically relevant case-based learning.  

Participants will strengthen their ability to synthesize clinical and radiologic findings and will develop practical strategies for collaborative decision-making across interprofessional care teams. The course empowers attendees to lead in the diagnosis and management of musculoskeletal disorders while enhancing their effectiveness within modern, team-based healthcare environments.  

 
Course Objectives 

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:  

  • Apply evidence-based diagnostic frameworks and efficient physical examination techniques for common spinal and extremity complaints.  
  • Interpret radiographic, CT, and MRI findings associated with prevalent musculoskeletal and spinal conditions.  
  • Perform point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) as part of clinical assessment and decision-making through supervised, hands-on scanning.  
  • Correlate clinical findings with imaging results and functional outcomes using a case-based approach.  
  • Communicate effectively with medical and allied health professionals to support collaborative care.

CONTINUING EDUCATION INFORMATION

This program will qualify for 16 hours of continuing education. While every effort to obtain credit in the following jurisdictions will be made, it is the licensees responsibility to verify that credits have been granted. UWS will update this listing with approval numbers as they are received.

  • UWS submits applications to the following jurisdictions: British Columbia, Alberta, California, Hawaii, and New Mexico.

  • University of Western States is accredited by the Council on Chiropractic Education (CCE) which provides approval of CE for chiropractors for all CE programs. The states that approve courses offered by CCE universities are: DE, MI.
  • University of Western States is an approved provider of CE for Chiropractors for the Providers of Approved Continuing Education (PACE) program of the Federation of Chiropractic Licensing Boards. States that accept courses that are approved by PACE include: AK, CT, DC, ID, IN, IA, KS, ME, MD, MA, MN, MO, MT, NE, NJ, NH, NC, ND, OH, OR, RI, SC, SD, TN, UT, VT, VA, WA, WY, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands and Nova Scotia.   • The following states do not pre-approve CE programs and it is up to the licensee to determine if they will count toward license renewal in their jurisdiction: CO. Plus, the following Canadian provinces: Manitoba, Newfoundland & Labrador, Northwest Territories, Nunavut, Ontario, Quebec, and Yukon. Submit certificate directly to your governing board for approval.
  • University of Western States is currently registered as a continuing education sponsor approved by the Division under Section 1285.110 (c)(2) of the Rules for Administration of the Medical Practice Act for the state of Illinois.
  • The following states do not accept online CE credits: LA and MS.

PRESENTER BIOS 

Dr. Bev Harger, DC, DACBR

 

Dr. Beverly Harger is a chiropractic radiologist with more than 35 years of clinical experience. In 1992, she completed her radiology residency at University of Western States (formerly WSCC) and attained her diplomate status from the American Chiropractic Board of Radiology. Her influential mentors are Dr. Appa Anderson (the first female chiropractic radiologist) and Dr. Cynthia Peterson, Harger’s residency director. 

She is the director of diagnostic imaging as well as the clinical radiologist for the University of Western States. She believes that the radiologist is an integral part of the patient’s healthcare team and, therefore, should have direct communication with the doctor. In addition to her role as radiologist, she enjoys teaching post-graduate courses on imaging.  

 

Dr. Bill Moreau, DC, DACBSP, FACSM

Dr. William Moreau is a board-certified chiropractic sports medicine physician with over four decades of clinical mastery in evidence-guided care. He is internationally recognized for advancing the integration of chiropractic care into high-performance sports medicine systems and for elevating standards in multidisciplinary athlete healthcare. 

 In 2009, Dr. Moreau transitioned from a successful private practice to become the founding Director of Clinics for the United States Olympic Committee (USOC), where he led transformative medical initiatives for over a decade. His leadership was pivotal in shaping the delivery of care to America’s Olympic and Paralympic athletes. In 2017, he was named Vice President of Sports Medicine for the USOC, overseeing all aspects of sports medicine operations, including care delivery at the Olympic and Paralympic Games and the management of the USOC’s network of medical clinics. 

 Dr. Moreau made history as the first and only Doctor of Chiropractic to serve as Chief Medical Officer for Team USA at both the Summer and Winter Olympic Games, directing integrated medical teams at the London 2012, Sochi 2014, Rio 2016, and PyeongChang 2018 Games. Under his leadership, Team USA implemented some of the most advanced, athlete-centered medical systems in Olympic history. 

 A founder of the U.S. Coalition for the Prevention of Illness and Injury in Sport a recognized International Olympic Committee one of only eleven IOC Research Centers for Injury Prevention. Dr. Moreau has also served on the international Pan American Sports Organization (PASO) Medical Commission, where he contributed to shaping health policy for athletes across the Americas. 

 Dr. Moreau is a dedicated educator and thought leader, having delivered more than 400 invited presentations on sports medicine, concussion, dysautonomia, and integrated care models across five continents. His expertise has been featured in TIME, USA Today, ESPN, Bloomberg Businessweek, NPR, and NBC. 

 Today, Dr. Moreau continues to shape the future of concussion and autonomic care as the founder and CEO of NeuroSport Spine and Concussion Center in Vancouver, Washington, where he leads a multidisciplinary team serving patients with complex neurologic, autonomic, and musculoskeletal conditions. 

 An avid outdoorsman and conservationist, Dr. Moreau resides in the Pacific Northwest with his wife, Karen, and remains deeply committed to advancing patient care, research, and professional education in chiropractic and sports medicine.

Dr. Patrick Battaglia, DC, DACBR

Patrick Battaglia, DC, DACBR, is the Assistant Vice President of Community-Based Clinical Education at University of Western States. Dr. Battaglia is a board-certified chiropractic physician, who has completed additional training and board-certification in chiropractic radiology. Dr. Battaglia’s experience includes integrating chiropractic care into large health systems, especially community-health centers, where he also provided direct patient care, student and resident instruction. Dr. Battaglia is passionate about providing diverse and immersive clinical experiences for chiropractic and other whole-health students.
