Dr. Rob Elliott Owens received a bachelor’s degree in psychology at Temple University before moving to North Carolina to complete a master’s degree in Student Development/Higher Education and a doctorate in kinesiology with an emphasis in sport studies at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG). He is an active member of the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP). As a member of the diversity committee for AASP, he assists in student diversity initiatives, including the student travel grant and the regional AASP-HBCU Regional Sport Psychology conference. He was also an item writer for the AASP certification exam and currently sits on the editorial board for Case Studies in Sport and Exercise Psychology (CSSEP). Outside of his work for the AASP, he is a member of the Public Relations and Communications Commission for USA Boxing and is on the Council for Wellness Credentialing Excellence through the National Wellness Institute. In his spare time, he practices Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) and advises the BJJ club at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He is currently working towards the CC-AASP credential.
