Scholarship Opportunities at UWS

Scholarships are awarded primarily based on application strength, but other factors may be considered. The Office of Admissions will notify selected applicants in writing via email. Scholarships exceeding $1,000 will be disbursed evenly to student accounts over the academic year unless otherwise noted. Awards under $1,000 will be applied in full during the applicable term.

Pursuant to university Policies 1013 and 2001, University of Western States admits students of any race, color, nationality, ethnic origin, sex, or age to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the university. Find out more about this policy and how you can handle inquiries. 

Scholarships for All Students

The Dr. Michael Horowitz/Dr. Jeannie Gutierrez Opportunity Scholarship 

Available for students forging new educational pathways. 

Scholarship Award: Up to $5,000 per recipient 

Eligibility Criteria: 

  • Open to U.S. and international students
  • Candidates must have applied for admission to University of Western States by the application deadline or be continuing students in good standing.  
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Essay: (350 word minimum, 500 word maximum. 12-point font, double spaced) 
    • Applicants should submit a brief essay outlining their qualifications for this scholarship, submitting a final version to [email protected] by March 30, 2026. The essay should describe the applicant’s academic goals and may include information about prior community service and academic achievements. the start of the new borrowing rules and the transition to the new repayment structure.
Mary and Norman Pattiz Scholarship 

The Mary and Norman Pattiz Scholarship supports graduate students who demonstrate academic excellence and a strong sense of purpose in their professional goals. This scholarship recognizes students in the College of Graduate Studies who are committed to making a meaningful contribution to their profession or community. 

Scholarship Award: $2,000 to four recipients 

Eligibility Criteria: 

  • Open to U.S. and international students
  • Applicant must be a continuing student enrolled in a Master of Science program in the College of Graduate Studies
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above 
  • Must submit an essay (350-500 words) in 12-point font, double spaced 

Essay: Describe your professional goals and how your education at University of Western States will help you make a meaningful impact in your chosen field or community. 

The Mary and Norman Pattiz Scholarship is part of a System-wide endowment supporting students across The Community Solution Education System. It was established to help future leaders in health care and related fields access the education needed to serve and inspire. 

Emerging Health Care Leaders Scholarship 

This competitive $1,000 scholarship supports new students who aspire to make a positive impact in the health care field. 

Scholarship Award: 

  • $1,000 awarded toward first quarter tuition
  • Scholarship applications are competitive, and scholarship recipients will be selected by March 16
  • Scholarship recipients will be selected until funds have been exhausted
  • Individuals who defer to future terms will forfeit their award

Eligibility Criteria: 

  • Applicant must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must be a new incoming student enrolled in a certificate, master’s, or doctoral program 
  • Must meet all admissions requirements
  • Must submit a completed application to a degree program and scholarship application by March 9.  
  • Must submit an essay (300 words) describing your career aspirations to change health care and how UWS will help you achieve that. 
The Dr. Richard Tilden Diversity in Health Care Scholarship 

Whole-person health includes the entire person, their lived experiences, and their ways of being. UWS recognizes that a racially and ethnically diverse student body benefits and enriches the educational experiences of our community. UWS also acknowledges the need to increase diversity within the chiropractic profession to better serve communities of color. The university offers the Dr. Richard Tilden Diversity in Health Care Scholarship funded by Heraya Health to support ongoing advancement towards achieving racial equity in chiropractic medicine. 

Scholarship Award: $1,000 to ten recipients 

Eligibility Criteria: 

  • Open to U.S. and international students
  • Applicant must be an incoming or returning Doctor of Chiropractic student 
  • A commitment to expanding racial and ethnic diversity in the chiropractic profession  
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above 
  • Must submit one letter of reference from an instructor or professor, member of a community organization or employer 
  • Must submit an essay (350-500 words) in 12-point font, double spaced 

Essay: As a practicing chiropractic physician, describe the role(s) you will play serving and treating a diverse community of patients, their families and their communities. 

Standard Process Scholarship 

The whole food philosophy of Standard Process, a long-time trusted business partner of UWS, was developed in 1929 by the company’s founder, Dr. Royal Lee, who believed “the best sources of vitamins and minerals are found in whole foods.” 

Scholarship Award: $5,000 to two recipients 

Eligibility Criteria: 

  • Open to U.S. and international students
  • Applicant must have been enrolled in the Doctor of Chiropractic program for at least one year 
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above 
  • Must submit one letter of reference from an instructor or professor, member of a community organization, or employer 
  • Must submit an essay (350-500 words) in 12-point font, double spaced 

Essay Questions: As a practicing chiropractor there will be many modalities you can employ to deliver optimal patient care. What is the importance of nutrition in achieving a patient’s health goals? How do you plan to incorporate education and what type of supplementation will you include as part of your treatment plans? 

Chiropractors’ Association of Saskatchewan Scholarship 

The Chiropractors’ Association of Saskatchewan is pleased to provide a scholarship opportunity for Saskatchewan students enrolled in the Doctor of Chiropractic program at University of Western States. 

Scholarship Award: $1,000 USD to one recipient 

Eligibility Criteria: 

  • Applicant must be a Canadian international student from Saskatchewan
  • Must be a continuing student enrolled in the Doctor of Chiropractic program in Quarter 5 or later
  • Must plan to return to Saskatchewan 
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above 
  • Must submit an essay (350-500 words) in 12-point font, double spaced 

Essay Question: Why did you choose to become a chiropractor and what is your vision for chiropractic within Canada’s health system? 

Chiro One Wellness Center Scholarship 

The Chiro One Wellness Center Scholarship is one of many manifestations of Chiro One Wellness Centers’ unique vision, “that all human beings discover their full potential.” Co-founder Dr. Sam Wang, a long-time trusted business partner of UWS, believes that support for the future leaders of chiropractic is a crucial part of the growing paradigm shift toward wellness in health care. 

Scholarship Award: $1,000 to two recipients 

Eligibility Criteria: 

  • Open to U.S. and international students
  • Applicant must be a continuing student enrolled in the Doctor of Chiropractic program in Quarters 8-10
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above 
  • Must submit an essay (350-500 words) in 12-point font, double spaced 

Essay Questions: How will you make an impact as a future leader in the chiropractic profession? (225-300 words) .  What activities and/or organizations are you participating in now as a student? (125-200 words)  

Local Advantage Scholarship

The Local Advantage Scholarship simplifies the transfer process for international students already living in the U.S. who hope to transfer to University of Western States. Eligible full-time international graduate students currently studying at another U.S. institution or who have completed a degree at a U.S. institution may receive a 25% discount each term while enrolled, provided they maintain good academic standing after transferring to University of Western States.

Scholarship Award: 25% tuition discount

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicant must be enrolled as a full-time student and be classified as an international student, as per residency and visa requirements applicable to international students.
  • Must be local (in the U.S.) at the time of application.
  • Must provide proof of current U.S. status that permits study as an international student. No separate scholarship application is required.

The Local Advantage Scholarship cannot be combined with other institutional scholarships or tuition discounts.

Global Partners Scholarship

The Global Partners Scholarship provides a 20% tuition discount each term to eligible full-time international students who are enrolled with or employed by an institution that has an active memorandum of understanding (MOU) with UWS, provided they maintain good academic standing while enrolled at UWS.

Scholarship Award: 20% tuition discount

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicant must be a current student or employee of an institution with which University of Western States has an active MOU.
  • Must be enrolled as a full-time student and be classified as an international student, as per residency and visa requirements applicable to international students.
  • No separate scholarship application is required. Eligibility is automatically assessed based on the applicant’s status as a student or employee of a partner institution.

The Global Partners Scholarship cannot be combined with other institutional scholarships or tuition discounts.

Global Well-Being Scholarship

The Global Well-Being Scholarship promotes wider access to a U.S. education for those currently living outside of North America. Eligible full-time, non-Canadian international students may receive a 20% discount applied to their tuition each term if they maintain good academic standing while enrolled at University of Western States.

Scholarship Award: 20% tuition discount

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicant must be a new student to UWS starting in summer 2025 or later.
  • Must be enrolled as a full-time student and be classified as an international student (non-Canadian) as per visa and residency requirements applicable to international students.
  • Must be accepted into an eligible graduate program at University of Western States.
  • Eligibility is automatically assessed at the time of admission. No separate scholarship application is required.

The Global Well-Being Scholarship cannot be combined with other institutional scholarships or tuition discounts.

Northern Advantage Scholarship

Addressing the exchange rate gaps between the Canadian and U.S. dollars, the Northern Advantage Scholarship provides an accessible and affordable education at University of Western States for Canadian students. Eligible full-time Canadian international students may receive a 25% discount applied to their tuition each term if they maintain good academic standing while enrolled at University of Western States.

Scholarship Award: 25% tuition discount

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicant must be a new student to UWS starting in summer 2025 or later.
  • Must be enrolled as a full-time student and be classified as a Canadian degree-seeking student with proof of Canadian citizenship or permanent residency.
  • Must be accepted into an eligible graduate program at University of Western States.
  • Eligibility is automatically assessed at the time of admission. No separate scholarship application is required.

The Northern Advantage Scholarship cannot be combined with other institutional scholarships or tuition discounts.
