The Academic Commons–Research Team is responsible for supporting research and sponsored programs at University of Western States. Our team provides guidance to students, staff, and faculty at every phase of the research cycle and can help with the following:

- Protocol development

- Data analysis and statistics
- Manuscript preparation
- Conference presentations (oral and poster)

Research Development Committee
The Research Development Committee (RDC) is focused on the advancement of research and scholarly output at the university by supporting research and scholarly activities across all colleges for students, staff, and faculty. Student representatives may participate in committee meetings and actions to promote the research needs of students.
Institutional Review Board
The Institutional Review Board exists to ensure that all faculty, staff, and student research involving human participants is designed ethically to protect those involved and complies with U.S. Department of Health and Human Services regulations to protect human research subjects.
Student Scholar Designation Program
The Student Scholar Designation Program recognizes students who contribute meaningfully to scholarly work beyond their required coursework. This award was developed by the Research Development Committee.
UWS Research Seed Funding
UWS Research Seed Funding supports research and scholarly activity by University of Western States faculty, staff, and eligible students. This competitive internal grant program provides seed funding for pilot projects, preliminary research, and scholarly dissemination, offering faculty and students opportunities to engage in meaningful research and contribute to the growth of scholarship at UWS.
Community of Research and Scholarly Practice
Chaired by UWS professor Cortny Williams, Ph.D., the Community of Research and Scholarly Practice is a collaborative faculty group that offers the entire UWS community a supportive space to learn about the research process, propose research ideas, and receive guidance in conducting research and scholarship.
