Why Give to UWS

Since 1904, University of Western States has combined rigorous science with compassionate health care. The quality of our academic programs represents more than 120 years of research and advancement in whole-person health care education.

This lasting legacy is made possible by supporters like you. Your philanthropic gift helps us expand access to education, strengthen our clinical training, and support students throughout their entire journey. Together, we can continue to make a positive impact on students, patients, and the entire health care field.

Ways to Support UWS Students

Choose where you’d like to make an impact:

  • Scholarship Fund: Help reduce financial barriers and open doors for new and continuing students through scholarship support.
  • Students First! Annual Fund: Support essential programs, professional development opportunities, and critical campus resources that enhance the student experience.
  • Clinical Education Fund: Enhance patient care and drive innovation in health care education with direct support for our hands-on clinical training experiences.
  • Student Groups and Associations: Support student leadership, activism, and community engagement through student-led organizations. Please include the name of the student association you’d like to support when completing the donation form.

Ways to Give

Give Online

Make a secure gift using our online giving form with a credit card or bank transfer.

Stocks and Bonds

Donating appreciated stocks or bonds held for more than one year may provide tax advantages, including the ability to deduct the full value of the asset and avoid capital gains taxes on appreciation. Consult with your financial adviser to determine if this option is right for you.

Shares may be transferred to:
UWS Account: 08001881630
UWS DTC: 2803

Please let us know of your intent to transfer stock by emailing [email protected] so your gift can be properly credited.

IRA Required Minimum Distributions

Required minimum distributions (RMDs) are annual withdrawals that Traditional IRA holders must take after they reach the age 70.5. RMDs are usually taxed as ordinary income, however, you may be able to turn your RMD into a qualified charitable distribution (QCD) to UWS, which would not be included in your gross income and would not count against the limits on deductions for charitable contributions. These can garner significant advantages for certain high-income earners. Consult with your financial adviser to see if this method of giving is right for you.

Planned Giving

Planned gifts, such as bequests, trusts and retirement, or life insurance policies, can offer various tax benefits depending on your financial situation. We will recognize you as a major donor to the university from the day you notify us of your intent to make a planned gift. For information, consult your financial adviser or contact UWS donor relations at 503-847-2574 or [email protected].
