Biography

Dr. Tiffany Mehling has been licensed as a clinical social worker since 2010 and is currently licensed to practice as a psychotherapist/mental health professional in Nevada, Illinois, and Utah. She is a Certified Mental Performance Consultant® (CMPC) administered by the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP) and Canadian Sport Psychology Association (CSPA) and is on their registry of approved CMPC Mentors. She is listed on the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee Mental Health Directory and the NFL Player's Association mental health referral list.

Tiffany completed a Bachelor of Science in Communication at Northwestern University (with majors in Dance and Communication Studies, a concentration in Media and Politics, and a minor in Psychology) and after working in politics, the performing arts, and higher education, returned to school for a Master of Arts in Clinical Social Work from the School of Social Service Administration at the University of Chicago. She completed a doctorate (EdD) in Sport and Performance Psychology at the University of Western States. Her dissertation research was related to the predictors of and protectors against performance anxiety in professional performing artists. She has also completed advanced training in Family and Divorce Mediation through Northwestern University's School of Continuing Studies as well as advanced training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, and Peak Performance Consulting.

As a clinical social worker, she has had the privilege of working in a variety of settings and with diverse client populations. Highlights include serving as mental health manager for four Texas prisons, serving on the psychiatric consultation-liaison service and as the mental health department's liaison to the inpatient complex combat casualty unit (i.e. the wounded warriors) at the Naval Medical Center San Diego, and at the student counseling center at Northwestern University. She also worked in both the emergency department and outpatient mental health at the VA Southern Nevada Healthcare system. In addition to her role as an adjunct instructor at UWS, she has a private practice in Las Vegas, Nevada where she provides psychotherapy and performance consulting to a range of clients that includes professional athletes, performing artists, and those in high-performance careers (e.g. surgeons, first responders, etc.). She has developed a niche working with combat sports athletes. She also provides supervision to post-graduate counselors, psychotherapists, and social workers working toward independent clinical licensure as well as mentorship to those working toward CMPC certification. As a psychotherapist and consultant, she values working toward an informed eclecticism. Though originally trained in psychodynamic and family systems theories, after significant post-graduate training, has embraced evidence-based psychotherapies (CBT, ACT, IPT) and utilizes these frameworks in her current practice. She also enjoys working as part of an interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals.
