Biography

I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) with a strong background in both psychology and education. I graduated from New Mexico Highlands University in December 2013 with a BA in Psychology and a Minor in Coaching, where I also played soccer for 3.5 years. Following my undergraduate studies, I earned a M.Ed. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Alaska Fairbanks in 2016. My graduate thesis focused on creating a curriculum aimed at helping collegiate athletes transition into the workforce by highlighting the transferrable skills learned in sports.

In 2018, I completed an Ed.D. at the University of Western States, where I focused my dissertation on the development and implementation of a career-based curriculum for junior ice hockey players. This research, which explored strategies to enhance academic and career readiness, was later published.

I have been teaching at UWS since 2017 and am a Registry Approved Mentor through the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP). In addition to my academic role, I work as an LPC in an outpatient behavioral health clinic, collaborating with a psychiatrist and an addiction medicine team to provide comprehensive care to clients.

I currently reside in Alaska with my husband and two children, Lucille and Junior, where I continue to love my work in both the mental health field and academia. My research and practice are centered on improving the lives of athletes and individuals facing transitions, as well as helping individuals navigate mental health challenges.
