Dr. Amy O'Hana is the director of the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at the University of Western States, where she has served as full-time faculty since 2021 and was named College of Graduate Studies Faculty Member of the Year in 2022. A licensed professional counselor and board-approved clinical supervisor in Oregon, she has been a counselor educator for more than two decades. Dr. O'Hana earned her PhD in Counseling from Oregon State University in 2005 and completed the Graduate Certificate in Applied Sport Psychology at UWS in 2023, reflecting her passion for integrating clinical mental health and performance psychology.
She is also the owner of Embodied Performance LLC, a Central Oregon mental health practice specializing in sport and performance populations and issues, particularly eating disorders, military/tactical populations, and working professionals. Her clinical expertise includes counseling ethics, diagnosis and assessment, vocational development, military and first responder wellness, and grief and adjustment. Her research interests focus on human potential, motivation, Eros/erotic intelligence (life-force energy), and integrative, spiritually informed approaches to wellness.
Dr. O'Hana is the author of three books-When Your Child is Grieving (2019), Beyond Burnout (2020), and Working with Erotic Intelligence: The Smart Woman's Guide to Beating Burnout and Achieving Incredible Success at Work (2022)-and a frequent contributor to professional publications and podcasts. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family and dogs, kayaking, working out, and exploring the mountains of Central Oregon
