Board of Trustees Member and UWS Alum Dr. Ronald Rogers and his wife, Christa Rogers, RN, held a 12-session “Yoga for Back Pain” class at their clinic, North Beach Chiropractic Clinic. They donated the proceeds to UWS.
“Our class gave us positive exposure in the community, reflected very well on our clinic and gave us the opportunity to champion UWS to the attendees," said Dr. Rogers. "It was also an easy way for us to give back to UWS.” Thank you, Christa and Dr. Rogers for your creative fundraising! #UWSLife #UWSGives ... See MoreSee Less
By: Samantha Silva, Human Nutrition and Functional Medicine student I wake up suddenly, my face on my desk and drool dripping down my chin. I sit up, looking around carefully, not knowing for a moment...
UWS is proud to present the updated school logo! This logo refresh, which is just a small part of the rebranding effort, encompasses the legacy of Western States with a fresh, modern style. The refresh brings together all of the programs, on campus and online, into one cohesive brand for the future. #UWSLife #GoStates ... See MoreSee Less
It's ok, i like having the gold in it. Why left out the "U"?
I’m with Sly on this one; I liked the gold. This makes the logo too bland in my opinion.
I’m not a fan, it needs the U and almost looks blue. Kind of a downgrade in my opinion.
In 2010, the last time we rebranded, the school transitioned from a college to a university. At that time, it was very important to emphasize we were a university, since it was a time of transition. We are now well established, but our legacy remains Western States.
We also loved the gold. Unfortunately, there were a number of technical difficulties with the former logo and we were able to fix these with this refresh. We simplified the logo in order to print and reproduce in a variety of sizes and mediums. The gold color was difficult to reproduce properly and did not show up as gold many times, but instead as a yellow-brown color. Also, the former logo had a number of fine and delicate details. When it was reproduced smaller, the logo was indecipherable. As part of the process, a university-wide task force gave input at many stages and we’re happy with the clean and collegiate look.
Not sure about this, usually I love a clean look but this reminds me of the Best Western hotel logo. Kinda boring. 😢 I miss the purple and gold.
The logo is the face of a corporation; The last logo had symbolism and embodied the spirit of the school.
This new logo has lost the meaning...
I understand the issue with printing 100% but the solution of this new logo is very bland.
Hard to rally behind a logo with 2 letters and a circle...
Let’s hope the school doesn’t lose track of their identity as they try to assimilate into the medical world.
We need to assimilate into modern healthcare more but do so in a way that draws from our strength as holistic providers. The last logo forced you to remember this spirit.
Symbolism is important and UWS is starting to lose this symbolism...
Remember what the gold symbolized...
Imagine if the American Flag completely dropped the stars due to “printing” and cost issues...
Food for Thought...
Really? That’s too bad, I think the old one was a lot more unique and professional. Would have been neat to get a vote from the students on different choices...
I preferred the old logo.
The gold part doesn't bother me much, but I definitely think losing the U is a big mistake. "WS" could be just about anything, and it's not what we call the school. Really no reason to drop it!
Yep, I don’t like it either
I like the removal of the U from the logo. Local residents and businesses who have know Western States for years never identified with ‘University’ of .... Trust me. I was there for the transition as a student and then in the early going as part of a business of the University. Saying UWS or University of often resulted in confusion and people thinking I meant Western Oregon or University of Washington. 🤔. Moving to the W and the S is clean and simple and brings a recognition back to what people have identified with LONG before it was University of. I like the move and look forward to this rebranding.
Of all the things that could be done to improve the school to make a positive impact (the list is long), they decide to change something that wasn't broken with already limited resources. Doesnt surprise me one bit 😂
Are we keeping University in our name? Seems to be eliminated on all of the swag, including the ‘Go States’ (ha) flags...?
The old UWS and WSCC logos were better.
Any time a Corp finds they need a ‘fresh, modern,’ logo, you know you’re in trouble. Just make sure that new logo is totes tubular, aight brosef?
