Why did you choose UWS? Why did you choose your program/concentration?

I chose UWS because it allowed me to transfer credits from my physical therapy program. I am very passionate about integrative health care, but made up my mind when pursuing a second doctorate that I did not want to retake courses that I have already mastered. UWS respected me as a physical therapist and allowed me to demonstrate my knowledge base without assuming what I may have known. Not to mention, UWS is the highest regarded chiropractic institution in the nation. For these reasons, I tell everyone that I did not choose UWS or Portland; UWS chose me.

When you comb through the research, merging physical therapy and chiropractic principles yields better patient outcomes. I chose to pursue a second doctorate, a doctorate in chiropractic medicine, not to continue to add letters to my name, but to further become the best possible provider to my patients.

What has been your favorite class/instructor?

This is a hard question! Building on my current knowledge has allowed me to see the curriculum through a different lens. It is all pretty fascinating, but if I had to choose, I would say that I love the radiology courses. Dr. Gary Schultz is also an awesome professor.

What is your favorite part about attending UWS as a student?

The open labs to practice adjustments and techniques is my favorite.

What do you hope to do after graduation?

Following graduation, I would like to start an integrative private practice and teach in a doctor of chiropractic or a doctor of physical therapy program.

Favorite way to relieve stress from school?

My faith is what gets me through stressful times. I pray and lean on my church family for support. I also enjoy running for one to two hours each day
