Adjunct Instructor, Sport and Performance Psychology

Dr. Pamela Verhulst,”Dr. V”, resides in Abilene, Texas. Currently, she is assistant professor in the kinesiology department at McMurry University. Pam is originally from Wisconsin, and has served as faculty and head coach at DII, DIII and NAIA levels throughout the United States. Recently nominated and appointed to the USA Track and Field Road Racing Technical Council, she is an Olympic and a Hall of Fame Coach for men’s and women’s cross country and track and field programs. Dr. V is an avid specialist in fitness, exercise science and sport.

Pam’s certifications include USATF coaching and instructor, ACSM CPT, ACE sport and nutrition specialist, NSCA and American Red Cross instructor and IT. Previously, Pam has served teaching in Malaysia and coaching athletes from all over the world. Dr. Verhulst also has a wide experience of owning, managing and directing fitness facilities and event organizations. Her athletic administration background is also well noted. Dr. V specializes in disordered eating/and eating disorders among the community and sport athletes.

In her free time, Dr. V is a 48-year competitive distance runner, with two Olympic trial marathon experiences. She is an all around sports enthusiast along with her husband Len. Her three adult children and three grandkids keep her busy. An avid pet and rescue advocate, “Peppers” the cat, a Shitzu/Yorkie, “Baxter”, “Geico” the Gecko, and a python, “Fred”, keep her motivated.
