Laura Martin, LCSW is a clinical social worker with 20 years of experience, specializing in mental health, trauma, and mindfulness interventions. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale before continuing to complete her Master of Science degree in social work at the same institution. She has taught evidence-based mindfulness practices in mental health and healthcare professionally since 2002. Currently in private therapy practice. Laura has been a dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) trainer and therapist, is trained to teach mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR), and certified by the Center for Mindfulness at UMass Medical School. She is additionally trained in mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) through the Center for Mindfulness at UC San Diego. Most recently, Laura is teaching physicians to use mindfulness in their stressful work, which has been shown to reduce physician burnout. Laura has a golden retriever named Louis, who prefers mindful walking.
