As the Head of Library Public Services, Kim (she/her) is dually responsible for managing access services and meeting research needs of faculty and students through library instruction, reference services and research assistance. In the access manager role, Kim oversees the circulation desk operations, resource sharing and interlibrary loan services. She also provides assistance to the University Librarian in library planning and operations.

Prior to her position here at UWS, Kim was an Assistant Professor, Outreach and Instruction Librarian at Concordia University where she was the liaison librarian to Psychology, Social Work, Healthcare Administration and Religion. Particular areas of academic interests include metacognitive assessment of information literacy skills and reducing student library anxiety. Before changing careers, Ms. Olson-Charles worked for 25 years in behavioral research holding a range of positions from being a research assistant and coder to her last position with the University of Oregon Department of Psychology as research project coordinator.

Kim holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Oregon and a Master in Library Science from Emporia State University.
