Jayme Gallegos, PhD, attended undergraduate studies at University of Arizona where she earned a B.S. in molecular and cellular biology and a B.A. in english literature. She worked as a technician for two years at the University of Arizona Medical Center, attended graduate school at Oregon Health & Science University, earning a Ph.D. in biochemistry and molecular biology, and was a Postdoctoral Fellow for two years in the OHSU Dermatology Department. Most of her undergraduate and graduate research was studying interactions of various proteins and their changes during the development of cancer. Dr. Gallegos always knew she wanted to teach at the collegiate level, so during her studies he often tutored and trained students. She taught in some of the graduate and medical school classes at OHSU, including histology and gross anatomy and imaging and embryology. She has also taught anatomy, cell biology and several classes in the biotechnology program at Portland Community College. Her hobbies include reading, sewing (particularly quilting), exercising and playing with her daughter.
