What are you most excited to accomplish as the new director of donor relations at University of Western States?
It is an exciting time to join the UWS team with our new campus coming soon. This building represents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our whole philanthropic community to make a meaningful impact on our school and students. It is truly an honor and exciting to know that I will get to help facilitate and encourage these contributions.
What calls you to the working in the world of development and fundraising?
I love inspiring people to become philanthropists. Every gift matters and it is through these contributions that our work will be accomplished and our major goals are met. It is wonderful to serve in a role where I get to reinforce and celebrate this already healthy culture of giving that exists for our generous community of contributors as well. There is a lot of misconceptions about how fundraising works; many people think that we as development professionals are just on the hunt for the next million dollar donation when in fact every single person contributing a gift that’s meaningful to them is how we succeed and raise significant funds together.
What are your favorite ways to relax outside of work?
I love board games! Any chance I get to have friends over for some food and spades or trivia is the best of occasions. I also am very active with my Rotary club and enjoy serving my community with them frequently.
