National Public Health Week is April 1-7 and we have a challenge for you!

Did you know that both the American Public Health Association (APHA) and the Oregon Public Health Association (OPHA) have Chiropractic sections? In fact, the APHA Chiropractic Health Care section has been working on a set of core public health competencies for chiropractic programs. And you can be part of it! A working group of that section is now looking to develop engagement strategies to incorporate these public health competencies into educational programs.

Here’s where you come in!
UWS is soliciting ideas for learning activities that incorporate these competencies. Find background information, competencies and a curricular activity template below. The National Public Health Week website may be helpful in coming up with ideas. Check out their website for fact sheets as well as the daily themes they have for the week. Submit your ideas to [email protected] by 5 p.m. on April 8. A panel of judges will announce the winners on April 15. Several other chiropractic schools are participating and all winning entries will be shared among the schools so that these great ideas have the potential to be implemented in multiple schools. Winners will receive a one-year membership to the OPHA Chiropractic Section (limited quantity), a gift certificate to the UWS campus store, and all the notoriety we can muster!
