Clinical Mental Health Counseling Master’s Degree Open House
July 26 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
University of Western States invites you to attend an Open House for our Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. Come learn about our online CMHC program and how it may be the right fit for you. This Open House will include information from our Program Director for the CMHC program, as well as a short time for Q&A.
The Master of Science in clinical mental health counseling program emphasizes a systems-based approach in which students consider the influence of families, groups, teams and organizations on individual mental health and performance. Students utilize mental health trained actors as part of the unique standardized patient program to help build clinical skills prior to working with actual clients.
Comprised of 90 quarter credits, this degree is completed fully online with face-to-face internship requirements within students’ communities and is designed to prepare students who want to become licensed professional counselors. The 100% online coursework guides students as they learn to assess, diagnose, create behavioral health care plans, and treat those with mental health symptoms and illnesses, including addictions.
The program culminates with a year-long counseling internship during which students hone knowledge and skills in supervised clinical settings within their communities. Program faculty, instructors and students adhere to the codes of ethics of the American Counseling Association (ACA), the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP), and those of their state licensing agencies. The master’s degree can be taken independently or as a specialization in our doctorate of education (EdD) in sport and performance psychology program.
