Student Commencement Speaker Nomination Form

The student commencement ceremony speaker serves as the representative for the graduating students, celebrates the accomplishments of the graduating classes, and reflects upon the past few years with a message for the future.

Nomination Deadline and Information

Nominations must be submitted by Wednesday, May 10 to be considered for the June 2017 Student Commencement Speaker.

You can nominate multiple students and self nominations are appropriate.

Criteria for Eligibility

  • Student must be a graduating doctor of chiropractic student in Spring 2017 or Summer 2017.
  • Demonstrate academic success by achieving a minimum 3.5 cumulative UWS GPA (will be verified at the time of nomination).
  • Demonstrated leadership and/or service involvement while at UWS. This may include membership with campus clubs, participation as a mentor/ambassador, or being appointed or elected to a leadership position with a university organization, board or committee. The student’s involvement must demonstrate service and commitment to the mission of the university.
  • Student must be in good disciplinary standing.

Selection Process

Nominations can be submitted by faculty, staff and students in the Spring 2017 or Summer 2017 classes. The student speaker will be selected by a panel comprised of the president of the university, the dean of the college of chiropractic, two faculty representatives selected by the dean, the dean of students (or designee) and the vice president of clinic affairs (or designee). The panel will review all nominees and select the student speaker.
