​Master of Science in Exercise and Sports Science FAQ

Why take advantage of this dual degree (DC,MS) opportunity?

Getting the MS degree concurrently with the DC degree will save you time and money and you will be eligible for the CCSP and Diplomate certification along the way  

Why get an MS in Exercise and Sports Science?
 
The MS in Exercise and Sports Science is a natural fit for Chiropractic Physicians desiring a specialty practice working with elite and casual athletes. It can provide you opportunities to work with various sports teams (high school, collegiate, professional) and in sports related facilities. The Master of Science is also an advanced degree that people recognize and a desirable credential for teaching in college/university or professional school settings.

How many credits are there in the MS program?
 
The program consists of 64 quarter credits. 30 quarter credits come from courses within the DC program and 34 quarter credits are from independent courses in the MS program  
 
What is the Practicum?
 
Students will get experience working in practice/sports settings that are arranged through UWS with area sports teams or rehab clinics. Student-initiated practicum experiences will be evaluated for approval by UWS.  
 
What is the Capstone Project?
 
At the end of the program, students will submit a portfolio of learning experiences at specific intervals throughout the program, with particular emphasis on practicum experiences.  
 
When are the classes offered?
 
Classes are evenings, weekends, and  online/hybrid. Initially, courses will be offered once per year.
 
Who will be teaching the classes?
 
Faculty will have a minimum of a master’s degree in a relevant discipline and/or significant experience in the field of sports medicine/science/rehabilitation.  
 
How long will it take to finish the degree?
 
Two (2) years One or two additional courses per quarter for 7 quarters. If you start in 6Q you can finish the DC,MS together in 12Q  
 
How much does it cost?
 
$328/credit x 64 credits = $20,992
DC students only pay for additional MS courses: 34 credits = $11,152

What are the admissions criteria and prerequisites?
A bachelor’s degree At least a 2.5 GPA in the DC program 6Q or above in the DC program
