President's Message
I am pleased to announce that Western States
Chiropractic College is now the University of Western States! This
transition affirms our commitment to providing diversified education for
students while serving the community as an integrated health care resource.
From its inception over 105 years ago, Western States has provided
leadership in evidence-informed education, internationally-renowned
research, and exceptional patient care. Our proud traditions of academic and
clinical excellence—preparing students for achievement and success—have
always been at the core of what we do, and will always remain our highest
priorities.
In keeping with our motto, “For the good of the patient,” we complement
basic and clinical sciences with the art of caring for people. Our students
consistently demonstrate excellence in academics, service to the profession,
and delivery of high quality health care to patients.
-
UWS is well known as a leader in chiropractic education. This
is evident in UWS students' consistently high performance on both U.S. and
Canadian National Board examinations and in Western States graduates'
success in practice.
-
UWS offers an educational experience in keeping with the
curriculum of other health science professions. We support a concept of
working with other health professionals as a vital and increasingly valued
solution to many patient health problems.
-
Because UWS graduates are expertly prepared to work in
integrated care settings and to provide the highest quality patient care,
they are the most likely to succeed in this new environment.
-
Our technique and diagnosis labs average approximately seven
students to every one instructor (7:1). This kind of low student-faculty
ratio assures you will confidently enter the chiropractic profession after
graduation, prepared to provide the best treatment for your patients.
-
UWS is a pioneer in chiropractic research, and was the first
chiropractic college ever to receive a federally-funded research grant
through HRSA (the Health Resources & Services Administration -- a division
of the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services).
Our university is proud of the leadership and rich heritage we contribute to
the chiropractic profession. The future of health care will focus on
integrating disciplines, preparing competent professionals, providing
effective care, and promoting wellness.
The University of Western States will prepare you to fill the rapidly
evolving role of the chiropractic physician. I invite you to become part of
our vision of chiropractic's growth and a future of serving patients in need
of our unique healing art and science. We welcome you to visit our campus.
And, when you do, please stop by my office and introduce yourself, or simply
send an email to president@uws.edu. I would enjoy meeting you and sharing
my experiences as a practitioner for over 20 years.
Joseph E. Brimhall, DC
President,
University of Western States
